Everyone knows the trip is not done until all the travelers are home. I’m headed back to old Va via SETX.
I left Blue River, Co just before 4 mst or 5 am Texas Time. It was about 46F. Heated gear and insulated gloves were perfect. Also perfect… the Super Ten’s super bright Denali lights. I made it to Raton NM with no incidents.
I ditched the heavy gloves and electrics and wicked up the speed. I set the cruise just a few over and hauled without issue to Amarillo. Somewhere between there and Childress, temp rose over 100F. Between Childress and Decatur, I saw about 3 hours in the 102F range, with peaks at 104F.
I took extra breaks and stayed hydrated with no problem. I’m more mentally taxed from the journey than anything.
Checking out a local joint called Sweetie Pies for their famed chicken fried ribeye. Stay tuned.

Oh, the meal… it was very good. Chicken fried ribeye and all the fixings.

Have a safe trip home Harv.
I enjoy watching you guys.

Harv, that is ruthless. I HATE riding in that heat, it’s brutal. Stay hydrated my friend. I do the water jug on the footpeg treatment with a hose running up to the tank bag so I can sip and ride. Out west here its just one long stretch after another so it’s basically mandatory. Thanks for the wonderful pictures as well. Ride safe!
