I woke up at an unnatural time along with the others. The plan was breakfast at Tim Hortons. When it looked like people were ready. I just went to Tim Hortons. Im not a morning person so it may have looked Surly, but I was just meandering through the morning. After breakfast we set out.Continue reading “Day 15 (6/29/24) Ft Nelson to Williams Lake (Steve)”

Day 14 (6/28/24) Whitehorse YT to Ft Nelson BC (Steve)
As I mentioned yesterday these are now travel days so the stops and pics are fewer. Today was a great day for animal encounters. We saw Brown bears, black bears, Moose (alive and dead), goats, rabbits and probably others. I may have video of some. We hit the road at 6 am. yes, I madeContinue reading “Day 14 (6/28/24) Whitehorse YT to Ft Nelson BC (Steve)”
Making like Hank Snow..,
Bit of a long day but beautiful scenery as we skirted the northern Rockies and made our way toward the US. It was a pleasant 600+ miles in just about 11 hours. Shorter day tomorrow, I do believe. Ready for dinner and sleep. Edit- tonight might just be the first night in 2 weeks thatContinue reading “Making like Hank Snow..,”
Day 13 (6/27/24) Tok to Whitehorse (Steve)
Today and the rest of the days are travel days. Today wasn’t the worst and wasn’t best. Alf needed a tire and that tire was pretty far away. So a plan was hatched was hatched for a 6 am departure. I was up and mostly ready, but had little motivation to get moving. I sentContinue reading “Day 13 (6/27/24) Tok to Whitehorse (Steve)”
Alls well that ends well
Up at the crack of perpetual sunshine and out the door at 0600 local. We were 100 miles form the Canadian border and knocked out the first 70 with ease. Then we happened upon a construction site that was just kicking off for the morning. We were polite enough not to go around the guyContinue reading “Alls well that ends well”
Day 11/12 (6/25-6/26) Fairbanks-Talkeetna-Tok (Steve)
6/25 We left Fairbanks at a “later” time and headed south to Talkeetna. We had reservations for a 4 pm flight to Denali. However, a proper breakfast was wanted by all. So we headed back to the HotSpot Cafe. After lunch we hit the road. The smoke had come in from the wildfires so theContinue reading “Day 11/12 (6/25-6/26) Fairbanks-Talkeetna-Tok (Steve)”
On the way…
It’s time for us to head back to the lower 48. We left Talkeetna at a reasonable hour and made our way to Tok to spend one last night in Alaska. We rode in view of the Chugach mountains for most of the day but the rising heat kept us from too many photo stops.Continue reading “On the way…”
Denali!
Back on track today… we left Fairbanks this morning at a reasonable hour, fueling up with gasoline, coffee and bacon on the way out. It was pretty leisurely with only 4.5 hours of riding on tap. Other than me losing the nut on top of the triple clamp momentarily, the bikes ran great. We checkedContinue reading “Denali!”
Day 10 (6/24/24) Fairbanks ( Steve)
The hotel I was in was nice. They are a full blown tourist destination with tons of kitschy things, like a theater about the Aurora, an Aroma Sauna ..etc. They also have a restaurant next door, and an ice cream bar. I partook in all of it. I made the right decision on coming backContinue reading “Day 10 (6/24/24) Fairbanks ( Steve)”
