Here’s a short video that shows why you shouldn’t ride a full size adventure bike on the Colorado BDR section 4 – especially if you have tires that are well known to suck in the sand. https://youtube.com/shorts/haLp-WHvGgc?si=6ZnNzPQo2w0Fw__3 Harvey and I both got stuck, but never fell over. Steve should come along with a video ofContinue reading “Colorado BDR”

First Attempt at Colorado BDR
Harvey and I decided to hit section 5 of the Colorado BDR on the way to tonight’s lodging options. I’ll bet Harvey talks about the BDRs in one of his posts, but this one proved to be a little sketchy for us loaded down with gear and tires with standard pressures. We managed about 15Continue reading “First Attempt at Colorado BDR”
Valley of the Gods
I let the Insta360 camera software do its own thing to create a short version of the start of the Valley of the Gods. It’s the best I can do without my PC at home.
Flight to Denali and Glacier Landing
I’ll continue to go through the videos I took with the Insta360 camera and make some nice snippets available for your enjoyment. I did figure out how to get a single-frame shot from Insta360 video and it seems to do a passable job for “photos.” Here’s a quick video walking around on the glacier afterContinue reading “Flight to Denali and Glacier Landing”
Atigun Pass Northbound
I have a lot of video saved in Insta360 format. I’m going to try to find the most interesting parts and create some MP4 vides to share with everyone, but I’ll be learning the process along the way. Here’s a time-compressed view of our trip north over the Atigun Pass headed toward Deadhorse, AK.
Flooding North of Omaha
On the way home we had to detour around Omaha where large sections of the highways were closed due to the flooding. Meanwhile torrential rains continued to make the situation worse.
Fairbanks to Wiseman
Today’s ride was just 250 miles, but much of it was the Dalton Highway, otherwise know as the Haul Road. Wiseman is basically the halfway point on the Dalton and doesn’t have much to offer in the way of services – just a couple of cabin rentals. We purposely got off to a later startContinue reading “Fairbanks to Wiseman”
Watson Lake to Dawson, YT (Dan)
This is just a quick update – I mentioned in the last post it was going to be a long day at 600+ miles. We made the trip in 12.5 hours, and I felt great the whole way. Steve already mentioned that we’re starting to see wildlife, but we’re also starting to see wildfires. IContinue reading “Watson Lake to Dawson, YT (Dan)”
Stewart, BC to Watson Lake, YT (Dan)
Today’s trip took us from Stewart to Watson Lake, covering about 402 miles. We were on the road by 8AM and reached our lodging just after 5PM. There’s really only one way to get there – head east out of Stewart on highway 37A and take a left at highway 37 and ride all theContinue reading “Stewart, BC to Watson Lake, YT (Dan)”
Beer Truck on the Moki Dugway?
I’m getting set up for video on this trip and hope to do a better job of capturing the experience than I have in trips past. It’s great to be able to tell the stories about what you see and experience, but sometimes its good to have video proof. That got me thinking about theContinue reading “Beer Truck on the Moki Dugway?”
