Day 17 (7/1/24) Roseburg, OR to San Jose,CA (Steve)

Well it’s done. The journey is over and after 7 hours on the bike including 4 hours in the 90’s it still feels weird to not be riding.

I’ll work through a summary in a bit as well as start breaking down video for editing.

Today I hit the road at Sunrise which was 5:20 am. I didn’t want to be on the highway in the dark as that section of I5 has plenty of wilderness and I didn’t want a wildlife encounter.

The first half to Redding is pretty beautiful. As you enter CA you get great views of Mt Shasta. I made it to Redding making good time and the temps went up. The second half was hot. Mostly at 93 but going up to 97 for a while. When it’s hot I put myself on timed hydration. Every 15 minutes I have to drink fluids. I mixed gatorade and water.

Once I got to the bay area I jumped in the Express lanes and just focused on getting home.

Ive been just sitting and resting and I will join the world tomorrow.
