Day 13 (6/27/24) Tok to Whitehorse (Steve)

Today and the rest of the days are travel days. Today wasn’t the worst and wasn’t best. Alf needed a tire and that tire was pretty far away. So a plan was hatched was hatched for a 6 am departure. I was up and mostly ready, but had little motivation to get moving. I sent the boys on their way, packed the bike and had coffee and a breakfast bar while icing my foot.

The foot seems a bit better and came out of the boot without screaming. Tonight is the first night it isn’t throbbing, so hopefully it took a corner.

Once moving I was making great time and ran into a flagger. She told me all about the other 3 and the guy with the tire. 😀

After a 20 minute wait I followed the pilot car at 50 mph for about 15 minutes. There was never bc a reason for the pilot car.

The day went in ok. Gas in Destruction bay and lunch at Haines junction. I caught the sleepies for a bit but pushed through.

I arrived at Yukon Yamaha just as they were finishing up. So we got gas and headed towards the hotel. Harv said to lower expectations on the hotel, but it may be old but there was an AC in our room, it was clean and had great water pressure.

Upon seeing our AC Harv had FOMO and next thing the woman at the hotel was putting one in their room. She was really nice.

Only other interesting thing was I pulled over to take off my fleece and have a snack. As I was doing that someone on the Podcast I was listening to said “Big Bear”. I jumped to look around.

Only pic of the day where I was startled by the word “Big Bear”

Early kick stands up tomorrow and as usual they are all asleep . 🤷‍♂️ i better get on that.
