Up at the crack of perpetual sunshine and out the door at 0600 local. We were 100 miles form the Canadian border and knocked out the first 70 with ease.
Then we happened upon a construction site that was just kicking off for the morning. We were polite enough not to go around the guy sitting out cones and then he stopped and said out a flagman sign and said we had to wait right there. We waited 20 minutes for them to set up their site and then followed the pilot car about 18 minutes through no construction actually in progress, and just wasting the taxpayers dollars. The only saving Grace was the pilot car was actually driving more than 10 miles an hour closer to 45.
Once clear the construction zone a couple minutes later it seemed we were at the Canadian border and they welcomed us with open arms. We tested out the capacity of our fuel tanks to the first Canadian gas station just about the 235 240 mile mark on the tank. We did make it, but there was some panicking and mashing of teeth there at the last minute.
After fueling up and getting a little snack, we kept on rolling getting into Whitehorse Yukon Territory somewhere about 3 o’clock with no further incident.
I had called ahead to Yukon Yamaha to get a new front tire and by the time he arrived he had determined the rear need to be replaced as well. Yukon Yamaha took pretty good care of us and got us out in less than an hour and a half.
We stayed at the town and Mountain in downtown. We have the greatest service team in hospitality in Whitehorse bar none. I’m not gonna butcher the young ladies name up, but she took good care of us both providing directions helping with a C and just generally getting the evening started right big shout out to Town n Mountain.
The recommended Dirty Northern restaurant was very good, despite being a little trendy. We all left well fed with some left overs for breakfast.
Time to get some rest. A long day tomorrow, to get down to Ft Nelson. Sleepie time for this guy.
Harv
Peace out
