Oh, and top of the world Highway for us. That’s right today we rode the top of the world highway that runs from The Yukon river ferry at Dawson city to the custom station at the Alaska State line/national border. Let me tell you about my day …
It started with the power going out in the hotel somewhere around 2 AM which caused the fans to go off in the all important CPAP machine to quit doing its thing. So sleep was frightful from 2:45 to 4:15 or so and then we got up and started the day. I finished writing an account of the day before and post it online and then we went off to scour for breakfast.
We got breakfast at the Alvarado hotels restaurant. Service was good after they actually opened at 7 AM and the food was outstanding as well. Highly recommend.
In my lifetime, I’ve traveled on some ferries, Both domestically and internationally the ferry at the bolivar peninsula the Jamestown, Scotland fairy, and the fairies that to run between the islands and Sardinia to name a few. This thing today held like three cars and four motorcycles, barely. Sketchy!!! Somehow we made it over the Yukon and headed on to Chicken AK
100 miles of dirt and gravel separates East Dawson City from Chicken, AK. We made light work of it and stopped for coffee n a snack at the chicken cafe.

I’m a bit tired and struggling to focus. After some afternoon storms and less than helpful service at the super-unfriendly fast eddies in Tok, we ended up having lunch in delta junction at The Cave. We all left fat dumb and happy.

Another 100 miles and a few construction zones later and we made it to Fairbanks. Time for a nap…
