Original plans for this trip had us entering Canada near Seattle. The final plans included a route that entered Canada through the Small community of Coutts Alberta just north of Helena, Montana. This necessitated a ride or rather provided a ride through Banff national Park. look like fun so we headed off.

The first hour out of Calgary was primary slab and across the Expressway. Then we entered the park after paying a nominal fee and enjoyed the views of the mountains. It is gorgeous. In order to get our final destination, we turned onto a road called ice field Parkway now in June you think not much ice but you can see a lot of snow on the mountain top, but it was chilly but not uncomfortable. There’s a big butt here, but we had to cross the mountains to get to our destination on the other side. The mountain pass was only like 7200 feet maybe but once we started gaining altitude, we hit fog and then we hit snow and for most of an hour. It snowed on us. A combination of sleet and snow hands went numb. It was a small sheet of ice on my visor. The road was actually pretty busy and it was a little on white knucklie. Ultimately the cold-weather riding gear did his job kept us from frostbite. The bikes handled great. Traffic was respectful of us going slower at times and try not to run us over. It was an interesting route. We can say we’ve been there, but we won’t likely return anytime soon.

Oh, and I included the picture of our sendoff from three Forks Montana for your viewing pleasure.

Steve join the group last night and will be along for the ride for the next two weeks. It’s been said that misery loves company.
