Gassed Up, Packed up and Ready

Ready to go, did the final pack/check and gassed up. Only thing left is to hop on and head north. Meet up with the boys on Monday in Prince George. Spot will be active and tracking starting tomorrow.

For the first time ever on a trip, I actually weighed all my stuff. Mostly because over the years people have always said I overpacked. Joey joked in 2000 when he picked me up after my crash that my stuff filled the back of his 68 station wagon. Well, in this case on this trip it is about 90 lbs including gas and water.

What’s in the bags? Interesting question. All clothing, sleeping bag, blow up mattress and pillow and toiletries are in the water proof back on the passenger seat. Below that is a 1 gallon rotopax fuel holder just in case. In the left bag is my tools, my tent, an expanded first aid kit and my hiking sneakers. The left bag has tire repair kit, heated jacket, extra gloves and some camera accessories. The top box has my copy of the Milepost, my medications, some food/coffee, my jet boil and bear spray. The tank bag is charging cables, my phone, another camera, back up batteries and my sun glasses. There are a few other things like a Foot to go under my kickstand, a tire pressure gauge, a mini boat horn (to scare animals), a bug net and some bug spray.

The bike is a 2016 BMW R1200 GS Adventure Low and my saddle is a the Low saddle from Sargent saddles.

My riding gear is a Shoei Neotec 3, a Klim Carlsbad Jacket, Forma Waterproof boots and making a second appearance on a trip to Alaska my 15 year old Aerostich Darien Pants.
